Travel is Good for You. Really Good.
I’ve always believed that travel is one of the most important things we can do. For our minds, our hearts, our souls. Not in the wellness-retreat-green-juice kind of way (though I’m not against a little green juice). I mean truly good for you. For your clarity. For that little spark inside you that sometimes gets dulled by deadlines, logistics, and the never-ending scroll of to-do lists.
There’s something about leaving it all behind - your inbox, your routine, your same-old view - that clears the cobwebs. That reminds you who you are when you’re not being pulled in a hundred directions.
Here’s what I’ve learnt after 20+ years of designing bespoke travel for clients across the globe: Travel doesn’t just help you escape. It helps you return - to yourself.
It gives your brain space to breathe. When you’re wandering a backstreet in Palermo or floating in the Aegean, your mind does something magical - it softens. Ideas flow. Perspective sharpens. That knotty work problem? Somehow easier to untangle after a hike through the Dolomites or a market stroll in Kyoto.
It fires up creativity and self-reflection. Ever had a thought bubble up while watching the world pass by from a train window? That’s your brain thanking you for the break. Movement and novelty unlock something powerful - and that 'aha!' moment? It often comes not from a boardroom brainstorm, but over a Negroni in a tucked-away piazza.
It holds up a mirror - gently. Travel lets you take stock. Who am I? What do I want more of? Less of? What matters most? You don’t need a meditation retreat to get clarity. Just time away, fresh air, and the willingness to look up and look in.
It reminds you you’re capable. Resourceful. Brave. Lost luggage. Train strikes. Getting delayed somewhere (ask me about Ibiza). You adapt. You grow. You laugh. Travel expands your edges in the best way - gently stretching your comfort zone until it becomes your new normal.
And here’s the kicker: You don’t have to go far, or for long. What matters is intention. Curiosity. Space. A sense of wonder. That’s the real luxury.
So, if you’ve been feeling a little stuck lately - creatively, emotionally, mentally - maybe you just need a trip away.
